About

Summer lynx at NLR.Northern Light Resort is nestled in the wilderness at the very end of highway 588 on the shores of Northern Light lake.  The highway to the resort is now paved the entire way.  It is just north of the Minnesota border (Gunflint Trail) and east of Quetico Provincial Park in Northwestern Ontario.  The closest city is Thunder Bay, Ontario, 120 km (75 miles) to the northeast.

The resort has been operating for well over 40 years providing a great getaway for families and friends with a love of fishing, hunting, boating,  ATVing, snowmobiling and an overall appreciation of the wilderness.  We are on the northeastern shore of the lake with a beautiful sand beach where you can enjoy brilliant sunsets while having that evening swim after a great day on the lake.

We offer campsites with or without hook-ups, cabins and seasonal campsites.  We also have boats and motors to rent; there is a cement boat launch adjacent to the resort if you prefer to bring your own boat.

For your convenience we have a LCBO, gift shop/store, bait, ice, propane, gas and laundry facilities on site.

Northern Light lake is well known for it’s trophy fish and abundance of good eaters.  Species include walleye, small mouth bass, lake trout, northern pike, whitefish and perch.  We encourage our guests to catch and release the trophy fish, this support is, in part, what makes this lake so productive and also allows others the thrill of landing that big one!   The lake’s perimeter is 177 miles, with many islands, bays and sand beaches.  You can find that hidden spot knowing you will not be surrounded by other boats.

Fall is a beautiful time of year at the resort and offers great hunting opportunities including big and small game.  Many trophy walleye are caught this time of year!  A quieter time on the lake for those who want it.

Mid February you can come to the resort and enjoy snowmobiling on the many miles of great trails or try to catch that monster lake trout while doing some ice fishing!

While visiting Northern Light Lake, have a look at the pictographs which include paintings of animals, canoes and more.

Make your reservation early as once you come to our resort you will be sure to return!  Many satisfied clients have been coming to the resort for decades and introducing new generations of family and friends to all we have to offer!!
